Do I need a 4WD to drive in Iceland?
Not always. For the Ring Road and paved routes you can use a standard car. However, if you plan to drive F-roads (highland roads) a 4WD is legally required. In winter, we also recommend a 4WD for added safety on icy roads.
Is insurance included in the rental price?
Yes — CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is included with all rentals. You can upgrade to Full Insurance with zero excess, or add Gravel Protection for highland driving. All options are shown clearly during booking.
How does the airport pickup work?
Our free shuttle service runs from Keflavik Airport (KEF) between 06:00 and 23:00. When you arrive, call or WhatsApp our shuttle number (+354 790 3666) before collecting your luggage. Provide your flight number at booking and we'll track your arrival.
Is a deposit required?
No deposit is required when you book with Project Car Rental. The full rental amount is charged at time of booking — no surprise hold on your card at pickup.
